Fresno Bee; Fresno CA; 2006-12-31 CARL WILLIAM LAKE, Jr. "Bud" passed away peacefully at home, at the age of 86, on Thursday, December 21, 2006 in Fresno. Carl was born on August 15, 1920 in Oklahoma City, OK to Carl William Lake, Sr. and Myrtle Clotilda Hartman Lake. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946. After being honorably discharged from the service, he joined his parents in Fresno where he met and married the love of his life, Betty Trout. Making Fresno their home, they were married for 59 years and raised six children. Carl worked on the Fresno State campus from 1957 to 1983, where he retired as Paint Department Supervisor. After his retirement, he spent many vacations in Morro Bay, enjoyed camping, and later, he and Betty spent several years on the street rod show circuit joining the Spaniards Car Club. Carl was preceded in death by his sons Robert Arthur Lake, and Brad Jamison Lake, and granddaughter Vanessa Marie Lake. He is survived by his wife Betty; sons Terry Lake of Oakhurst; Chris Lake of Fresno; and David Lake of Clovis; daughter Judy Perry of Sonora; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
