Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 10/14/2006. Bakersfield CA Catherine Ann Lake Feb. 8, 1954 - Oct. 10, 2006 Cathy went home to be with her Lord October 10, 2006. Cathy was born on February 8, 1954 in Bakersfield, Ca and resided in Kern County for 52 years. Cathy was employed by Western Oilfield Supply Company (Rain for Rent), and was part owner of the company. Her Father Don C. Lake preceded Cathy in death. Cathy is survived by her children; son, JoJo Martin, daughter Kady Martin, mother Diane S. Lake, brothers Christopher C. Lake and Gregory D. Lake all residents of Bakersfield. Cathy was a member of the board of directors of Teen Challenge of Bakersfield and was an active supporter of the Youth Project at St. Francis Church. Cathy was a great lover of horses and an active participant in dressage. (The art of training horses.) Cathy lived as an example of hope even in the darkest of times. Her energy and love for family, friends and acquaintances became the benchmark she was known for. Her bright smile was observed by all. Her children were her life. Her love for her family was shown through her dedication to her children. Cathy found her inside artist and began creating jewelry that not only became a passion but also a style all her own. Her western chic style was a resemblance of her personal style and zest for life. Her creativity was a positive way to express her feelings. Her designs came from the heart as her heart was shown in every piece of jewelry she created. As she gave back to missionary groups through her jewelry, she saw life give back to her. Cathy was full of life, loved people, helped all, and touched everyone she came to know. Memorial services for Cathy will be held at St. Francis Church, 900 "H" St., at 10 a.m., Monday, October 16, 2006. Father Craig Harrison, officiating.
