SKAGIT VALLEY HERALD Mount Vernon WA 15 March 2006 CATHERINE (KATIE) E. LAKE Catherine (Katie) E. Lake, age 63, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2006 in Mount Vernon, Washington. Her dear mother, Elizabeth B. Graham, age 90, died just three days earlier, on March 2nd. Katie was born in Rochester, Minnesota, daughter of Dr. Frederick M. Graham and Elizabeth B. Graham. When she was five, the family moved to Bellingham, where she grew up loving art, music, and being with friends and family. In 1973, she was married to Wallace Lake, who was her best friend, constant companion and supporter for the 15 years of their marriage. He preceded her in death in 1998. A year later, Katie moved to Life Care of Skagit Valley in Sedro Woolley, where she spent the next seven years in their loving care. She will be remembered by staff and residents for her amazing gift of reaching out to everyone with her enthusiasm, friendliness, and deep caring. Katie also had a very special spiritual community with the Sedro-Woolley Community Church, whose members embraced her through the ups and downs of her life. She always had a deep appreciation for those in her church and her home who supported and loved her. Katie is survived by her father, Dr. Frederick M. Graham (Mary) of Scottsdale, Arizona; her sisters, Sally G. Hurt (Morton) and Elizabeth L. Graham; three nieces, Laurel E. Poertner (Jeffrey), Kelli G. Mosley (Corey), and Linde M. Howard (Brian Lawrence); six grand-nieces and nephews, David, Steven, and Emily Poertner, and Spencer, Braydon, and Brooke Mosley; as well as her husband's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Katie shared her loving spirit with everyone she met. We will all miss her very much. A memorial service was held at Life Care of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley on Monday, March 13.
