Published in The Daily Sentinel on 11/9/2008 Grand Junction CO Cecil R. "Dick" Lake July 27, 1940 - October 30, 2008 Dick Lake, age 68, died on October 30, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. His beloved mother, Lucille Lake, survives him as well as his two sisters, Carol Ottman, and Darlene (Norval) Hinkle; and a brother, Harold (Zelda) Lake, all of Grand Junction, CO; children, Elizabeth A. Keen of Corpus Christi, TX; Dikki L. Wick of Oklahoma and a son, Michael R. Lake of Alice, Texas; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. His father, Nicolas Cecil Lake, preceded him in death in 2001. He was also preceded in death by two nephews, Darrell L. Lake and Clyde D. Ottman. Dick served honorably in the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, he met and married Patricia A. Longsburg of Alice, Texas, where they lived until his death. She survives him. After being discharged from the Navy, Dick worked a few different jobs and went to work in the oil fields of Texas. He worked for Flournoy and Greywolf Drilling until he retired in 2005. Dick loved his mother dearly and always had her well being in his heart. After the death of his father, he came every year to be with his mother and catch up on the things that needed to be done around the home. Dick loved Colorado and 'home', longing to be there, his wish was to have his ashes spread upon top of 'the mountains'. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
