The Daily Graphic; Portage la Prairie MB Canada; 2007-11-5 & 2007-11-6 We regret to announce the passing of Charlene Ward at her residence on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the age of 46 years. Charlene was predeceased by her mother Hazel Lake, infant brother Marvin and niece Sierra. She leaves to mourn her exhusband but best friend Jason Ward of Edmonton Alberta; daughters Cherie Lake and Britney Lake (Jamie McLennan all of Portage la Prairie; grandchildren Chyna, Brady, Telyna, Mercedes and Jesse; father Wilfred (Joanne) Lake of Hamiota, siblings Debbie (Gil) Melanson of New Brunswick, Bob (Julie) Lake of Kenton MB, Willie (Cindy) Lake of Portage la Prairie, Donna (Glenn) Wettlaufer of Portage la Prairie and Marcel (Shelley) Lake of Portage la Prairie along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Charlene lived in the Gainsbourgh area for most of her childhood and part of her adult life. In her youth she attended Crescentview School and P.C.I. Charlene had a strong will and could be quiet stubborn. These qualities helped her to be determined and not be a quitter. She is a survivor! She has survived a lot in her life, cancer being the biggest triumph. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. Tuesday evening, November 6, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm there will be a time for visitation at McKenzes Portage Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 2:00 pm in McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel led by The Rev. Jean Bryden of the First Presbyterian Church. Interment is to follow at Hillside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Charlene's memory to Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8.
