Lake, 78 POMPANO BEACH, Fla. Charles R. Lake, 78, widower of Joan (Hughes) Lake, of Pompano Beach and formerly of Peabody, Topsfield, Danvers and Salem, Mass., died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, in the North Broward Medical Center Hospice in Pompano Beach. He was born in Peabody, edu cated in the Topsfield school system, and lived in Danvers and Salem before he moved to Florida in 1978. Mr. Lake was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a former member of the Masons, Elks and Moose clubs of Massachusetts and Florida. He was a retired accountant who was self-employed and worked for several companies in Massachusetts and Florida. He was also the former owner of Bett's Secretarial Bureau of Danvers. He enjoyed spending time with friends and entertaining. He leaves two brothers, Ernest Lake of Woodbury, N.J., and Merton Lake of Tamarac, Fla.; a daughter, Nancy Clough of Georgetown, Mass.; a son, Robert 'Rusty' Lake of Danvers; five stepchildren, Denise Kiburis, Colleen DiMambro, Glenna Hughes, Francis Hughes and Donna Hurvitz; and several grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also was the father of the late Pat Murch of Epping, N.H., and the late Charles R. 'Chuck' Lake Jr. of Danvers.
