Born on September 20, 1909, in Avondale, Hants Co., Charlie was the youngest son of the late Osmond and Alice (Haley) Lake. During his working life, Charlie was a fisherman, a farmer and was also employed with Hennessey and Spicer, in Brooklyn for many years. He was a member of the Newport Jolly Seniors and was a member of the Baptist Church. He enjoyed going camping and playing cards. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family, friends and community. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, the former Gladys Davis; daughter, Leona and husband, Owen Greeno, Cheverie, Hants Co.; grandchildren, Carol and Millard Lunn, Mosherville; Joey Greeno and Tammy, Centre Burlington; Brenda and Charlie Murphy, Cheverie; Wayne Greeno and Catherine, Sackville; Sharon Greeno and Fred Veinott, Belmont; Blaine Greeno and Lisa, Ardoise; great-grandchildren, Shawn Hazel, Dawn Hazel, Evan Greeno, Ian Greeno, Briana Greeno; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Arthur, Ernest, Walter, Roy and John. Visitation today from 2-4, 7-9 p.m, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194, King St., where funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Garnet Parker is officiating, burial to follow in Newport Landing Cemetery, Avondale, Hants Co.
