Lake, 87, of Lake Drive, East Waterboro, passed away on Nov. 4, 2002. She was born on Feb. 24, 1915, in Biddeford. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Allen Lake; her son, Joseph Allen Lake Jr.; her parents, Edith S. and Walter I. Smith; and a brother, Robert M. Smith. Mrs. Lake was a graduate of Thornton Academy and Business School in Boston. She was a successful businesswoman, owning two businesses, The Lake Ballroom Dance Studio and her 'Title Search' Business. Mrs. Lake loved playing golf and played in state championship golf tournaments. She also played tennis and traveled. She took wood-working courses and made many pieces of furniture. At the age of 75, she took computer courses mastering spreadsheets, e-mail, word-processing, etc. She was an excellent, creative cook who tried gourmet recipes until a few months before her death. Mrs. Lake is survived by a daughter, Linda-Lea Andrews of Old Lyme, Conn.; a grandson, Scott Allen Andrews of Medfield, Mass.; a grand-daughter, Jennifer Andrews Roth of Jamaica Plain, Mass., and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Cunningham of Greenville, S.C.
