Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the Porter Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice Preferred Choice, 115 S. Main St., Liberty, MO, 64068. Charlotte was born January 8, 1921, in Kansas City, KS, and was a lifetime area resident. She had been an executive secretary for TWA for 32 years, retiring in 1982. She then, with her son, owned and operated Lake's Landing Restaurant in Smithville, MO, for 12 years. She was a member of Brenner Heights Baptist Church and the TWA Seniors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lake Sr.; two brothers, Larry and Paul Horner; and a grandson, Randy Lake. She is survived by a son, Joseph Lake Jr., Kansas City, MO; daughter, Sharon Pickering, San Antonio, TX; sister, Maxine Duncan, Weatherby Lake, MO; grandchildren, Ryan Lake, Brent and Todd Pickering, Carol Johnson; two stepgrandsons, Brian and Matthew Mondt; and a great-granddaughter, Shelby Johnson.
