Sacramento Bee Sacramento CA March 6, 2013 Born Mary Cynthia Olson on Dec. 11, 1931 in San Francisco to Grace and Oliver Olson, Jr. Passed away at home after a brief illness on March 2, 2013. Cynie graduated from Dominican High School, San Rafael, in 1949. She attended UC Berkley where she pledged Alpha Phi. She married Richard Lake in 1951 and they had three daughters. That marriage ended in 1962. Cynthia worked at DelMar Pacific in Petaluma to support herself and her three girls. In 1973 she married Richard Marshall, with whom she shared one day shy of 40 years. They traveled while Dick worked for a moving company and continued to travel in their RV's well into their retirement. While members of the Potluck Pirates, they crisscrossed the US visiting family and making friends. They retired to Sun City, Lincoln Hills in 2000. Cynie leaves behind her husband, Richard Marshall and his three children, Linda LaFlame, Ronny Marshall and Becky Morgan of Tama, Iowa. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Brennan (Brian) and brother, Oliver Olson III as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving daughters, Kathy Courtwright (Brad) and Jody Hartfield (Barry) of Lincoln and Liz Ritchie (Mark) of Rohnert Park. She enjoyed her grandchildren, Ted, Chris and Jon Ritchie, Kristin and Ryan Courtwright and Doug and Rich Hartfield and watched them become amazing adults. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on March 7, 2013 at Chapel of the Valley, Roseville. A mass celebrating her life will be held at 10am on March 8, 2013 at St Joseph Church, 280 Oak Tree Lane, Lincoln. In lieu of flower, donations may be made to San Dominico School, 1500 Butterfield Rd. San Anselmo, CA 95960 or a charity of your choice.
