MITCHELL -- Darrell E. Lake Sr., 79, Mitchell, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday at 
his residence. 
Born in Bedford, he was the son of Joseph and Thora (Kelly) Lake. He married 
Mary Pavey on Aug. 21, 1944, and she survives.
He had worked at Indiana Limestone and retired from the Naval Surface Warfare 
Center-Crane in 1985. He was a World War II Navy veteran and member of 
American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, Bedford.
Surviving with his wife are two sons: Darrel E. Lake Jr. of Lakeland, Tenn., 
and Gary Lake of Mountain View, Calif.; one sister, Joanne Fields of 
Indianapolis; a half sister, Rebecca Hoskins of Indianapolis; two 
stepsisters: Ruth Holloway of Fayetteville and Betty Lewis of Williams; one 
stepbrother, James Coulter of Bedford; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a half brother and a half sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Haverly Mortuary, Mitchell, with the 
Rev. Phil Hortop officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with 
graveside military rites accorded by members of American Legion Gillen Post 
No. 33, Bedford.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until service time 
Wednesday at the mortuary.
