He was born in Council, Idaho, and lived in the Tri-Cities for 12 years. He was a retired operating engineer for Union 370. Einan's Funeral Home, Richland, is in charge of arrangements. Lake, 58, of West Richland, WA, passed away peacefully at Kadlec Regional Medical Center after a valiant battle with a failing heart condition. David had lived in West Richland, WA for the last 12 years. David was born in Council, Idaho, Jan. 20, 1954 to Orrin and Genece Bodkin Lake. He was raised on the ranch on Hornet Creek and met his future wife, Norma. He attended school in Council, Idaho. He married Norma Sheppard on June 8, 1973, and moved onto the Lake Ranch on Hornet Creek. They raised a family there, a son Gary O. and a daughter Laura A. Lake. David worked at Silver King Mine, later worked for Cypress Mining Co., and various logging companies. David also owned and operated his own Logging Company. He later joined Operating Engineers Local 370, retiring in 2007 due to failing health. He then devoted his time to puttering around his home property, fishing and maintaining his boats. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and visiting with friends and family. He is survived by his wife Norma, a son Gary and wife Laura R., West Richland. A daughter Laura A. and Christian Engle, Kenmare, ND. Grandchildren: Joseph Lake, West Richland, Paige Bennedum, NY, Zane and Emily Engle, Kenmare, ND. David was preceded in death by his parents Orrin and Genece Bodkin Lake and a sister Debra Phillips. A celebration of David's life and potluck luncheon will be held 1:00 p.m. Sat. June 8, 2013 at the Council Senior Center. A headstone will be in place at the Hornet Creek Cemetery for viewing. However Norma will be keeping David with her until they are both ready to be joined together for eternity.
