Essexville, Michigan Loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and brother passed away Thursday, August 7, 2003 at Bay Regional Medical Center after a short illness with his family by his side. Age 69 years. David was born March 2, 1934 in Peck, Michigan to the late William and Charlotte (VanSickle) Essex. He was married to Elizabeth Ann Laker on April 20, 1964 in Danville, Illinois. She survives him. David founded Essex Plumbing and Heating, where he served as owner and operator. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. David was a member of the Bay County Home Builders Association. Surviving besides his wife, Elizabeth, is one daughter, Beth Ann and her husband, Gary Hahn of Essexville; three grandchildren: Lance, Logan and Larissa Hahn; two sisters, Gracia and her husband Glenn Marsh of Auburn and Pat and her husband, Ron Lucas of Bay City; many nieces and nephews; special caregivers: Chris Musser, Christy Coburn, Susan Plessner and Drs. Moody and Chavali and their staff. David was preceded in death by one son, Michael and two sisters, Hazel and Carol. The Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2003 at the Stapish Cederberg East Funeral Home. Rollin Mader and Jerome Frandle will officiate with interment to follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
