Lake, 63 of Davenport, died Saturday, May 26, 2001 at Genesis West Medical Center in Davenport after an extended illness. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Thursday at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with American Legion Post No. 26. Halligan McCabe De Vries Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Lake was born June 5, 1937, in Muscatine, the son of Albert and Ethel Walker Lake. He married Mary Eckstein March 21, 1987, in Davenport. He was a truck driver for various trucking companies in the Quad Cities. He was an U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 26 in Davenport and Paralyzed Veterans of America. His grandchildren were very special to him. His hobbies were cooking and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Davenport; a daughter, Martha Cousins, four sons, Mike, Steve, Brian, and Mark Lake; seven grandchildren; step-children, Ray Eckstein and his wife Kate, of Davenport, Debbie Ellis and her husband, Rex, of Rock Island, Ill., Randy Eckstein and his wife, Candy, of Milan, Ill., Rick Eckstein and his wife, Peggy, of Cedar Rapids, Heather Fisher and her husband, Dan, of Davenport; 10 step-grandchildren; two sisters, Amy Zyba and her husband, Marvin, and Susie Flynn, all of Muscatine, two brothers, Ray Lake and his wife, Mary Jo, of Moline, Ill., and Albert Lake and his wife, Nina, of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Kenneth.
