Abilene Reporter-News Abilene TX Sunday, March 18, 2007 HASKELL -- Dee Ann Ballard slipped from the bounds of this earth on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Haskell Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 3, 1956 in Haskell, Texas. A 1974 graduate of Haskell High School, she attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and for a short time in the early 1980's she worked at the Abilene Reporter News, leaving only to start a family in 1982. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church for 40 years. Family was the most important part of her life. To her children and grandchildren she was devoted, and will be dearly missed by those closest to her. Being a Mother was her full time job that seldom left room for anything else, however she enjoyed writing and found relaxation in music. In death she was preceded by her grandparents, Alvin and Freddie Ballard and Charles and Ima Friebele and one brother Charles Ballard. Survivors are her parents Tommy and Marrianne Ballard of Haskell, Texas, her children, Justin Leek, Sam Leek and wife Whitney all of Haskell, Texas and William Brueggerman of Weinert, Texas. Two grandchildren, Lauryn Crane and Kurt Leek of Haskell, Texas and many others who thought of her as a Mother and friend. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday March 19, 2007 at Willow Cemetery, under the direction of Holden McCauley Funeral Home.
