The Tribune Lynden, Washington Wednesday, October 8, 2008 Obituary Delbert Lake Delbert E. Lake, of Bellingham, passed away on Wednesday Oct. 1, 2008. He was 79 years old. Delbert was born on Oct. 21, 1928, in Grant Town, W. Va., to Henry D. and Sarah (McCann ) Lake. After high school, he joined the Army in 1951, so that he could take care of his mom. He served for 24 years in the Army RA Artillery as master sergearnt, and attended Army Jump School. He was stationed in Germany; Korea; El Pasco, Texas, and Fort Devens, Mass., where he married Margaret (Peggy) Doherty on June 7, 1957. Prior to his military retirement in 1975, he was awarded many medials, including the Nationa Defense Service Medal with 10LC. After retirement, he worked for JC Penney for 15 years, transferring to Bellingham in 1981 for a better life for his family. They moved to Mill Wheel Park, where he was the Handyman for 10 years, and then they moved to Jensen Road, where he helped on the five-acre property. Delbert always thought of others first. He loved to help and stay busy. He was very fammly-oriented, and dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and three older brothers. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Lake, sons Mark, David and Michael; five grandchildren; Timothy, Andrew, Christopher, Cody and Trinity; and many nices and nephews.
