Lake
    Dixie J. Lake, 71, Barnett, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Good
Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.
    She was born April 27, 1930, in Fortuna, daughter of Samuel Z. and
Lillian Faye Wright Charles. She was married Nov. 20, 1949, to James
C. Lake, who survives of the home.
    She graduated from Tipton High School in 1948 and taught Marvin
4-H for several years. She was a homemaker and member of the United
Methodist Church in Versailles. She was a member of the Happy
Homemakers Club.
    Survivors include: two sons Scott Lake and Mark Lake, both of
Barnett; one daughter, Carla Herndon, Barnett; two brothers, Samuel
Ned Charles, Independence, and Charles Ted Charles, Overland Park,
Kan.; Eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
    Services were held Saturday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home,
Versailles, with the Rev. Gailya Dow officiating. Burial was in Beulah
Cemetery, near Versailles.
    Arrangements were under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral
Home, Versailles.
