Donald Lake
Age: 73
East Brunswick

Donald E. Lake, 73, of East Brunswick passed away at him home on Aug. 25,
2005.

Born in Perth Amboy, son of the late Edward and Mildred Lake, he grew up
in South Amboy. He attended Rutgers University majoring in physics. In
1952, he joined the Army and was with the 7th Infantry Division. The
following year, he was shipped from the States to Korea and stationed
on Pork Chop Hill. He was one of the few survivors of one of the major
battles. Upon returning home he married in June and 1956 and resumed
working for DuPont Co., Parlin.  He retired in 1988 after 37 years.

Mr. Lake was an active member of the East Brunswick Fire District 3,
Brookview Volunteer Fire Company, and was a member of the District 3
Fire Police since 1985. He had also served as commissioner for Fire
District 3 for six years. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting,
salt-water fishing and black-powder shoots. Inside his country-western
heart lived a little boy who wanted to be a cowboy. Donald lived this
dream by participating in cattle roundups and attending rodeos in his
later years. As a founding member of the Jersey Jaybirds Camping Club,
he enjoyed camp outings and traveling around the country with his wife
and his scottie dog, Bonnie. He was a member of the NRA and VFW Post 133.

Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Margery Ann (Brown) Lake;
two sons, Richard J. and his wife, Deborah, of East Brunswick, and Andrew
M. and his wife, Heather, of Port St. Lucie, Fla; two brothers, William
E. Lake of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Peter H. Lake of Navato, Calif. Also
surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home
of Milltown on Tuesday from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Funeral
services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment
will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery,
Hanover. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 133, 485 Cranbury
Road, East Brunswick, NJ 08816.
