Times Herald-Record Middletown, NY Oct. 18, 2014 DONALD H. LAKE July 29, 1929 - October 16, 2014 Walton, NY Donald H. Lake of Walton, NY, a retired motor vehicle operator for the New York City Board of Water Supply in Downsville, NY and Grahamsville, NY, and a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 16, 2014, with his wife and children at his side. He was 85. The son of the late Howard and Annabelle Finnegan Lake, he was born July 29, 1929 in Cooks Falls, NY. Donald proudly served Our County in the U.S. Navy from 1949 - 1953; he was a former member of the Harold Post VFW Post # 5911, Roscoe, NY; he was an avid NY Giant and NY Yankee Fan; Donald was amateur artist and musician; he loved to dance and he enjoyed wood working especially carving horses and making decorative sleighs, which he gave away. Donald was also an animal lover, taking in and feeding stray or orphan cats and dogs. He was a kind, generous, and humble man who would do anything for anyone. Survivors include his loving wife, Marcia Lanzoni Lake, at home; one daughter, Kathryn Lake of Delhi, NY; one son, Ralph Lake and his wife, Joan of Nassau, NY; one step-son, Mark Jacobs and his wife, Crystal of Walton, NY; one step daughter, Robin Alger and her husband, Mark of Walton, NY; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; (with two more great-grandchildren on the way); many nieces and nephews; six sisters: Dorothy Pherreigo of Arizona, Barbara Cromie of Roscoe, NY, Ginger Wakeman and her husband, Russell of Roscoe, NY, Alice Meyers of Roscoe, NY, Sharon Keene and her husband, Ronald of Cooks Falls, NY, Carol Gerow and her husband, Tom of NC; and two brothers: William "Bunk" Lake of Roscoe, NY, and Thomas Lake and his wife, Roxanne of Roscoe, NY. He was predeceased by two sisters: Joyce Bury and Rosemary Fassberger. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, October 19th in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 20th in the funeral home. The Rev. Larry Light will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will be in Cooks Falls Cemetery, Cooks Falls, NY.
