Albert Lea Evening Tribune; Albert Lea MN; 2001-12-27 Donald J. Lake, age 52, of Faribault, died Monday, Dec. 24,2001, at his home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. from the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault, with the Rev. Kevin Finnegan officiating. Interment will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Thursday from 3-8 p.m., and on Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church. The parish prayers will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. Donald Jerome Lake, the son of Donald C. and Isabelle "Elaine" (Matzke) Lake, was born on May 17, 1949, in Owatonna. He was raised and attended school mostly in Albert Lea before his family moved to Faribault where he graduated with the class of 1967 at Faribault High School. Following school he worked with Cook Painting, Mahlers Hardware, and Nutting Truck and Caster Co. He was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Gimberline on Oct. 23, 1976, in Wells. Don worked for over 24 years with the Faribault Public School system as a custodian. He was a member of the Minnesota Street Rod Association. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lake of Faribault; by a daughter, Georgette Lake of Minneapolis; by a son, Nicholas Lake (and special friend, Jeri Manson) of Faribault; by his mother, I. Elaine Lake of Faribault; by four siblings, Jackie (and Raymond) Anderson of Albert Lea, Kenneth (and Anna) Lake of Faribault, Dennis Lake of Faribault, and Connie Mithun (and Rick Smith) of Faribault; by three nephews; by a niece; and by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; by his grandparents, Harold and Margerie Lake, and Wencil and Eleanor Matzke; by a great nephew, Joseph Lake; and by an aunt, Alice Lake.
