The Express-Times Harrisburg, PA 17 Dec 2011 Donald James Kiernan, Sr., 70, of Forks Township passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in Easton Hospital. Born: May 18, 1941 in Bayonne, NJ he was the son of the late Bernard and Miriam Bryant Kiernan. Personal: Don attended Marist High School before enlisting in the US Army, where he reached rank of Spec 5 as a member of the bomb disposal unit. He married the love of his life, Rita Condon in 1963 and shortly thereafter, they settled in Somerville, NJ where they raised nine children over the course of the next 38 years. Don was a Financial Consultant with Control Associates, based out of New York City, for 30 years before retiring in 2002 and moving to Easton, Pennsylvania in 2005. Don had an overwhelming and abundant amount of love for his family and friends, especially his best friend and wife Rita, 9 children, and 25 grandchildren. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. He will be missed by all who knew him. Memberships: Don was an active member of St. Jane de Chantal s Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, where he attained the rank of Knight of the Third Degree. He was also a former member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Don selflessly gave much of his time volunteering with charitable organizations such as the Pregnancy Aide Center, local soup kitchens, and St. Vincent de Paul. Although Don took great pride in his affiliation with these organizations, his greatest source of joy was his family. Survivors: He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Rita Condon; nine children, Tricia, Donald Jr. and wife Leslee, Craig and wife Jennifer, Sean and wife Jennifer, Linda and husband Robert, Dennis and wife Stacey, Cathleen and husband Steve, Janet and husband Rob, and Mary and husband Jason; 25 grandchildren, Taylor, Keira, Allison, Jack, Ryan, Quinn, Brooke, Allison, Aeryk, Robbie, Aidan, Mackenzie, Casey, Delaney, Grant, Ashlynn, Cole, Carter, James, Reagan, Bobby, Riley, Bridget, Brock and Ellie; and two sisters, Bernadette Hicks and husband Bruce and Mary Payoczkowski and husband Joe. He also leaves behind an extensive extended family consisting of ten sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Services: A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Jane de Chantal s Roman Catholic Church in Easton followed by interment in St. Bernard s Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Doyle-Devlin Funeral Home, Inc., 695 Corliss Avenue, Phillipsburg, NJ. www.svdpusa.org
