Robbins, 88, of Montoursville, and also resided for two months at the Meadows of Divine Providence, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at the Valley View Nursing Center. Born Sept. 24, 1926, in Williamsport, he was the son of Henderson and Nellie (McCoy) Robbins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Jean (Christie) Robbins on Oct. 6, 2011. Don was a Navy Veteran of World War II where he had served in the South Pacific and retired from GTE Sylvania after 38 years. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he was an advisor of the former Luther League, participated as an usher, and sang in the Chancel and Men's Choir. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 104, Montoursville, and Masonic Lodge No. 335, Montoursville Historic Society , and the Williamsport Consistory and Consistory Choir. He was known best by his family as a devoted, loving, and hard-working husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In his younger years he enjoyed camping and boating. Surviving are four children, Linda J Inch (Gary), of Montoursville, Nancy E. Thursby (Rick), of Montoursville, Connie J. Turner, of Montoursville, and Larry A Robbins, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren Christopher, Michelle, Robert, Christie and Alexander; six great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and special friend, Doris Reichenbach, of Montoursville. A memorial service to honor Don's life will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 369 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. David B. Letscher officiating. The family will receive friends form 9:30 a.m. until time of the service at the church. A private burial will be held in Montoursville Cemetery. Please adjust the donations paragraph as follows.
