Salt Lake Tribune; Salt Lake City UT; 2001-11-28 Deseret News; Salt Lake City UT; 2001-11-28 Dora LaRee Laker Cummings Wednesday, November 28, 2001 Dora LaRee Laker Cummings, 81, passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 26, 2001 in Salt Lake City, Utah with her husband by her side. She was born June 6, 1920 in St. Charles, Idaho to Dora Catherine Hemmert and Daniel Cornelius Laker. She married Victor Kelson Cummings August 8, 1944. She attended grammar school in St. Charles, Idaho and later graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City. She attended the University of Utah and graduated with a BS Degree in Business. Later she returned to the university and earned a degree in Education. She taught elementary school for 14 years. She involved herself in many civic duties and LDS church callings. She served as President of the Ladies CPA's, Primary president and loved leading singing in the Primary organization. She served a leadership mission with her husband to the Salt Lake Liberty Stake. LaRee and Vic's long standing friendship with the (22 Dinner Group) brought much enjoyment into their lives. Her family will always remember the many trips to Brighton Canyon and the hours spent feeding the ducks in the park. She was a caring mother and grandmother and had a great capacity to love. The most important things in her life were her husband, children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Victor and five children; Dan (Virginia) Cummings, Vicki (Marinus) Baadsgaard, Corey (Sandy) Cummings, Val (Michelle) Cummings and Brent (Kai) Cummings; two brothers Reed (Berniece) Laker, Bryan (Dorothy) Laker, and a dear sister Anna Williams. She was proud of her 13 grandchildren and five great-grand-children. Funeral services will held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at the Mountain View 3rd Ward building, 1889 So. 1700 E., Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held at the church Wed. from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and one hour prior to services where friends and family may call. Interment will follow at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
