The Chronicle Herald Wednesday, Dec 7, 2011 Volume 62 Number 290 Halifax, NS, Canada LAKE, Doris Eileen - Tonge Hill, Windsor,Hants Co., passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011, in Hants Community Hospital,Windsor. Born on November 25, 1929, in Gay's River, Colchester Co., she was the eldest daughter of the late Albert and Agnes (Cottam) Frame (of Gay's River). Doris was a graduate of Truro Teachers' College Class of 1949. Prior to, and after her graduation, Doris taught in numerous Hants County schools until her retirement in 1990. In 2009 she attended the 60th year reunion of her class from the Truro Teachers' College. Doris was a member of Windsor United Church, life member of the UCW and former member of the Board of Stewards. She was a volunteer for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia for 29 years, the Hants Community Hospital Gift Shop andWest Hants UNICEF. Doris was also a member of the West Hants Historical Society and the Gliders' Club. An avid card player, she was always ready for a good game of Crib, Auction 45s, or Canasta with her family and friends. As a very independent woman and self-reliant, Doris happily toured eastern Canada with her travelling buddies. Doris is survived by sons, Bruce (Beverly) Lake, Blair (Karen) Lake, all of Windsor; grandchildren, Craig (Monique) Lake, Halifax; Aaron (Cheryl) Lake, Coldbrook; Samantha Lake, Nathan Lake, both of Windsor; brothers, Lorne (Eleanor) Frame, Valley, Colchester Co.; Donnie (Frances) Frame, Gay's River; sister, Linda Clarke, Truro; she is also survived by great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Emily Lake, Ryleigh and Peyton Lake, as well as several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Gordon Lake and sister-in-law, Doris (Herman) Rafuse. She was predeceased by her husband, Avon L. Lake (1979). The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Palliative Care Team at Hants Community Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lohnes-DeMont Funeral and Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor, (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, December 8. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 9, in Windsor United Church, 613 King St., Windsor, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. Private interment will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. A reception catered by the UCW will follow in the Church Annex. Family flowers only.
