"Gump" Lake STRAFFORD - Doris L. "Gump" Lake, 87, of Water Street, died Friday evening, April 26, 2002, at the Rochester Manor after a period of failing health. She was born on Nov. 30, 1914, in Malden, Mass., the daughter of the late Carl and Emma (Jordan) Addison. Mrs. Lake has resided in Bow Lake as a permanent resident since 1984, previously living in Reading, Mass. She had summered there since she was 11 years old. A hairdresser and a homemaker, Mrs. Lake cared for the Dwyer family children later in life and has remained in touch with them. She was a member of the Old South Methodist Church in Reading and the Bow Lake Baptist Church in Strafford for many years. Among her interests, she enjoyed sewing, riding in the car and bus trips with her sister, Gladys. The widow of Ralph L. Lake Jr. who died in 1989, she is survived by a son, Leonard and his wife Nancy Lake of Strafford; a daughter, Marilyn and her husband Bill Price of Strafford and Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Gladys Heald of Strafford; three grandchildren, Laura Low of Pittsburgh, Penn., Shelley Low of South Portland, Maine, and Jody B. and his wife Kim Low of Dover; a great granddaughter, Isabel Low of Dover; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Marion MacDonald and Roth Lof. Family and friends may visit Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the R. M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Hone, 86 South Main St., Rochester. The funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Bow Lake Baptist Church, Strafford, with Rev. Lillian Buckley, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery, Strafford.
