The Chronicle Herald Friday, Jun 28, 2013 Halifax NS Volume 64 Number 153 {Issue number confirmed} LAKE, Doris Mary Age 84, Martock, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2013, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by her family. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Caldwell) Spencer. Doris was a hard worker and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked and enjoyed many odd jobs in her life and was lovingly known by many as the "Fish and vegetable lady". One of Doris' favourite pastimes and passions was playing the guitar and making music with her sister Edith. At the age of 73 they finally made a CD together. Doris is survived by her children, Danny (Cindy MacLeod), Falmouth; Allan (Darlene Upshaw), Newport Station; Doug (Amanda McCulloch), Brooklyn; Erma Upshaw, Three Mile Plains; Darlene Lake, Ellershouse; Kathy Lake, Vaughans; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Hilda Snyder, Windsor; Regina (Ron) Sanford, Three Mile Plains; Florence Hartt, Currys Corner. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Delbert; son, Charlie "Chuck"; grandson, Josh Lake; granddaughter, Betty Joe in infancy; son-in-law, Gilbert Upshaw along with five brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held today, Friday from 7-9 p.m. in J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy. 215, Summmerville. Funeral will be held Saturday June 29, at 11 a.m. in Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lower Burlington, Pastor Burt Walsh officiating. Interment in St. Croix Cemetery, Ste. Croix followed by a time of light refreshments and reflection in the home of Darlene and Allan Lake, 115 Pheasant St., Newport Station. Family flowers only.
