The Chronicle-Herald/Mail Star; Halifax NS Canada; 2007-2-16 LAKE, Doris May - 78, Falmouth, Hants Co., passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2007, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 17, 1928, in Lake Ramsey, Hants Co., she was the daughter of the late Osborne and Julia (Legge) Keddy. In her early years, Doris worked for over 10 years, in the operating room of the Payzant Memorial Hospital, Windsor. Taking time to raise her family, she later worked at Avon Valley Greenhouses, Falmouth, for over eight years. She enjoyed her flower gardens and collecting antiques. Doris will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Prescott "Peck" Morton Lake; her children, David, Falmouth; Glenn (Glenda), Pictou; Leisa (Stephen) Leary, Falmouth; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Melba Swinamer, Amherst; Mabel MacDonald, Norwich, Conn.; Kathleen Reid, Wolfville; sister-in-law, Eva Keddy, New Minas; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by five brothers; brothers-in-law, Curtis Swinamer, Munro MacDonald and Harry Reid. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, February 19, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wayne Merrill officiating. Interment will be in Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Falmouth.
