Caon City [Fremont Co., CO] Daily Record, January 8, 2004 Dorothy Calmette, 90, dies Jan. 6, 2004, in Caon City. She was born June 5, 1913, in Corona [Carona], Kan. to Charles and Sarah Inez (Thomas) Lakey. She married Victor (Tooley) Calmette, Oct. 4, 1935. She was an assistant postmaster in Coal Creek and volunteered as a 4-H leader. She was involved in the Community Club of Coal Creek, a member of Florence Eagles 169 and a long time member and Sunday school teacher at Oak Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, playing bingo and joining the activities held at Hildebrand Care Center. Mrs. Calmette is survived by her children, Charles (Marilyn) Calmette, Mildred Erickson, Bill Calmette; grandchildren, Vickie (Gary) Miller; Jim Massey, Ted Boettler; Rick Massey, Vivian Boettler, Pam Massey, Toby (Lori) Boettler; Carla Woods, Terry (Ginny) Boettler, David Brink, Jeff Massey, Richard Calmette, Patty Nelson, Penny Loeber, Suzi (John) Maples, Linda (Robert) Gehring, Janee Brink Walker; Lori (Chris) Bouchard, Melisa Calmette and Christopher Calmette; brother Marion (Alice) Thomas; sisters, Mary (Edward) Kukalinski, Virginia (Bill) Corkia and Alice Spahr; 72 great and great-great grandchildren and her dearest friends, Louise Beckel and Virginia Jaynes and Geno Cortesi. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wilma McDermott; brothers, Herman (Margaret) Lakey, John (Verna) Thomas and Ed Thomas and sons-in-law, Wilbur Massey, Carl Baker, Ted Boettler, George Erickson and Fred McDermott; grandchildren, Arlene Massey, Mitchell Massey, Hope Littig and Andrew (Massey) Aragon. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Holt Chapel of the Garden with Pastor Fred Kitch officiating. Burial will follow in Union Highland Cemetery. Arrangements were handled through Holt Family Funeral Home.
