Dorothy E. Lindblad
Willmar
July 2, 1920 - July 2, 2014

Dorothy E. Lindblad, of Willmar, formerly of Spicer, died Wednesday, July
2nd at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.  Her interment will be 9:00 am,
Saturday at Svea Lutheran Cemetery in Svea followed by her Memorial Service
at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer.  A time to visit with the
family will be from 10 am until the time of the service at the church.
Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Dorothy was born on July 2, 1920, near Clara City, Minnesota in Chippewa
County, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha (Tary) Leek.  She grew up in
the Clara City area but moved to Willmar before her senior year in high
school and lived in downtown Willmar.  She worked as a housekeeper for her
room and board while she attended Willmar High School, graduating in 1938.
Following her schooling, Dorothy worked at the Willmar State Hospital.

On November 4, 1939, she was united in marriage to Earl Lindblad in Lake
Elizabeth Township.  They lived and farmed in Fahlun Township and later moved
to Blomkest where they owned and operated Earl and Dot's Cafe.  In 1952, they
moved to Willmar when Earl began working for Willmar Municipal Utilities.
Besides taking care of their home and raising their kids, Dorothy also
worked at Rodelius Ford, Larry Swenson Ford, Willmar Cookie Company and JC
Penney, before retiring in 1980.  After they retired, they moved to Spicer.
Earl preceded her in death on July 4, 2005.  Dorothy continued to live in
Spicer before moving Bethesda Heritage, Sterling House and then Prairie
Senior Cottages in Willmar.

While living in Blomkest, Dorothy was a member of Svea Lutheran Church and
upon moving to Willmar they joined Bethel Lutheran Church.  Following their
retirement when they moved to Spicer, she joined Faith Lutheran Church.
She always volunteered at her churches and until she could no longer drive
and Dorothy always belonged to a Bible study group.

Her family remembers her love of traveling, especially with their dear
friends, Grant and Arlie Christianson.  She enjoyed playing cards, especially
Whist and also collected various knick knacks.  Dorothy was an exceptional
cook and homemaker, keeping a meticulous home.  But most of all, throughout
her whole life, Dorothy loved doting on her children and grandchildren and
yet periodically you could see her giving her family that "finger pointing,"
when she meant business.

Surviving are her children, Jerry (and Becky) Lindblad of San Clemente,
CA; Jim (and Sherlie) Lindblad of Palm Desert, CA; Don (and Rosemary)
Lindblad of Coon Rapids; Doug (and Jan) Lindblad of Willmar; Gordy (and Deb)
Lindblad of Spicer; and Shelly (and Rick) Baker of Willmar; 21 grandchildren,
26 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ostby of Detroit Lakes.

Besides her husband, Earl and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her
siblings, Irene, Raymond, Walter, Bill and Dick.  She was also preceded in
death by her granddaughter, Tricia and daughter-in-law, Mary.
