Hedspeth, Dorothy Lakey (Dot)

Mrs. Dorothy (Dot) Lakey Hedspeth, age 80, of Charlotte, died May 3,
2003 at Presbyterian Hospital. A graveside service will be at 11:00
a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn West Cemetery with Reverend Joe Tarpley
officiating. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Monday at McEwen Charlotte
Chapel. Mrs. Hedspeth was born August 15, 1922 in Leaksville, NC daughter
of the late Henry Gray and Lilla Rhodes Lakey. She was a member of
Homestead United Methodist Church, a graduate of Paw Creek High School,
attended Kings Business College and retired as a bookkeeper for McCall
Brothers Pump and Well Service. She was an avid quilter. Mrs. Hedspeth
is survived by a son, Albert Hedspeth and wife, Cindy of Charlotte,
a sister, Lena Self of Charlotte, brothers, Leroy Lake and wife, Mary
Frances, Garland Lakey and wife, Dot, Doyle Lakey and wife, Rachel all
of Charlotte, and Arnold Lakey and wife, Becky of North Wilkesboro, NC,
and grandchildren, Shannon Hedspeth, Justin Hedspeth and Joshua Hedspeth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Hedspeth, Sr., a son,
Randy Hedspeth, and a sister, Juanita Mabry. The family would like to
thank Dr. Grant Taylor and his staff, the staff at Charlotte Health Care
Center, the Nurses at Harris Hospice Unit of Presbyterian Hospital and
a special friend, Jerri Latour for their loving care.  Memorials may
be made to Homestead United Methodist Church, 318 Glenhaven Drive,
