Fosters Daily Democrat, Dover NH 4 June 2002 Edgar Lake YORK, Maine - Edgar J. Lake, 94, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Sentry Hill Home in York, Maine. He was the loving husband of Maxine A. Lake of 72 years, who is also a resident of Sentry Hill Home. Mr. Lake was a licensed electrician and owned businesses in Longmeadow, Mass. and Sunapee, N.H. He served as an auxiliary police and fire department member in both communities. He was active in Lions International, serving as president many times in local Lions clubs, and was a member of the Springfield, Mass., Rotary Club. He was the oldest living past master of Longmeadow Lodge A.F. and A.M. and a past member of the Springfield, Mass., Melha Temple Shrine. Mr. Lake was an avid fisherman, hunter, New Hampshire guide, licensed private pilot, Power Squadron member, and for several years navigated private boats from New London, Conn., through the Inland Waterway, to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Survivors include a sister, Ella Mae Van Der Haegen and a niece, Christina Frisbee, both of Ridgecrest, Calif.; a nephew, Leonard Lake of California; two sons, Kenneth of Natick, Mass., and Keith and his fiance, Patricia Staples, of South Berwick, Maine. He also is survived by eight grandchildren, Deanne McDonald, Christina Wright, Sharon Lake-Post, Caron Virgin, Brian Lake, Kevin Lake, Kenan Lake, Lynn Staples, and 11 great-grandchildren. Private services were conducted by the family.
