The Journal-News (Hamilton OH), Wednesday, September 8, 1999, Page A2 Edith Lakes Mays, age 96, died Saturday, September 4, 1999 at 7:50 a.m. at the Butler County Care Facility, where she had resided for the past two years. She was born in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of William and Lydia (jones) Lakes. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Clay Taylor and Jess Mays. She retired after 13 years from Champion Papers. She had been a caregiver most of her life and loved sewing, crocheting and collecting clocks. She loved and cared for her husbands, brothers and nieces. She is survived by her nieces, JoAnn Doughman and Sue Ann Lakes both of Hamilton; a nephew, Matthew Lakes of Lewisburg, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Lahoma Lakes of Hamilton; other nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Vernon, Ted, George, John Matt and Charles Lakes. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N.W. Washington Blvd. with Rev. David Salyers officiating. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
