Press & Sun-Bulletin Binghamton, NY 16 Nov 2007 Edna Lake of Greene Edna Lake, 81, of Greene, passed away on November 15, 2007 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton. She was born on August 27, 1926 in Staten Island, N.Y., the daughter of the late George and Ethel (Warburton) Eiss. On October 12, 1947 she married Lawrence P. Lake, who survives. Besides her husband of 60 years, Lawrence; she is survived by her children, James Lake and his fiance, Barbara Hogan, Greene, Andrew and Mary Lake, Binghamton, Lauren Lake and Paul Bonanno, Skaneateles, N.Y., and Randi Lake and companion, Cheryl Heath, Ithaca; two grandsons, Christopher Bonanno and Cody Bonanno; her sister, Marion Enders, Phillipsburg, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Rory Lake. Edna was very active in the community of Greene for many years, having been involved with the Rotary Christmas Basket program, for which she received an achievement award, the Recreation Commission, Keep Greene Clean, initiating the community flower baskets and serving as both a Boy Scout leader and Girl Scout leader. She was a member of Zion Episcopal Church and the Mary Blodgett Group of the church and was name Diocesan Woman of the Year. She was a member of the Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce and was their Citizen of the Year in 1991. She had worked at Greene Central School as a teaching assistant in the media center. She was an avid golfer and belonged to several leagues. She was a member of the Current Topics Book Club. She loved baking and gardening for her many friends and the community. She was selected by the BPW as Woman of the Year. She was very devoted to the community of Greene and loved helping anywhere that she could. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2007, at the Genegantslet Golf Course from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Green Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 441, Greene, Moore Memorial Library, 59 Genesee St., Greene; or the Greene Emergency Squad, 8 N., Canal St., Greene.
