FROM; Leelanau Enterprise; Leelanau Michigan; Thursday, November 11, 1999 Page 2, Section 1 Dr. Edward C. Lake 1915-1999 Dr. Edward C. Lake of Glen Lake died Oct. 19 in Jackson, Michigan. Mr. Lake was born in Grass Lake, Mich. in 1915, the son of William Henry and Winifred (Craft) Lake. In 1942 he married Wanda Glettler, who survives. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan and Wayne State University Medical School. He served in the Army Medical Corps in New Guinea during World War II before practicing medicine in Jackson for 32 years, during which he delivered more than 8,000 babies. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and any other activity that would get him outdoors, and was a member of Bethlemen Lutheran Church in Glen Arbor. Also surviving are sons Edward (Karen), Douglas (Mary) and Jon (Donna); a brother, Joseph Lake; a brother-in-law, Bernard (Laura) Glettler of Glen Lake; a sister-in-law, Dorthea (Dorr) Hewlett; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William H. Lake, Jr. Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
