Cremation IN THE CARE OF GORDON F. TOMPKINS FUNERAL HOMES, CENTRAL CHAPEL, 546-5454 UNQUOTE This is the same unfortunate and foolish boy who was killed by knocking himself unconscious to the point of brain damage, then drowned when he jumped off a cliff of a quarry used as a swimming hole. There is now a plastic snowfence encircling the quarry on the road side, and heavy equipment was used to break down that side of the cliff so that it is now a 45 degree slope to the edge of the water. No one will be able to repeat what he did. The family is suing the city over not maintaining the bylaws regarding this issue. The confusion arose when the township containing the quarry had had a lax attitude but also had the bylaws, was amalgamated with the old city. It's a real mess and going to cost plenty. Most of any settlement will likely end up in the lawyers' pockets, with the taxpayer footing the bill for the stupid unthinking action of someone old enough to know better.
