LAKE, Elizabeth J. (Betty) (King) (nee Squires) - Passed peacefully away
at home in the presence of her loving family, after a courageous battle
with cancer, on Monday, August 14, 2000, Betty King Lake of St. John`s,
formerly of Bell Island. Predeceased by her parents: Harry and Dorothy
Squires and brother Jimmy of Bell Island. Leaving to mourn with many
wonderful and loving memories, her children: Arlene Hamilton (Rae),
Jacqueline Kelly, Trevor King (Shelley); grandchildren: Mark Hamilton,
Julia Hamilton and Stephen Kelly. Also leaving to mourn her brothers:
Stan Squires (Cynthia), Curt Squires (Marion), Clayton Squires (Ethel),
Ron Squires (Linda); sisters: Ruth Connolly (Joe), Dorothy Pasch
(Larry), Cynthia Murphy (Bern), Winnie Farrell (Wally). Betty is also
sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a wide circle of aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home,
329 Freshwater Road on Monday from 7-10 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. -
2 p.m. Funeral Service to take place from The Carnell Memorial Chapel
on Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place on
Wednesday, August 16, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. from the Anglican Cemetery,
Bell Island. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may
be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Newfoundland and Labrador
Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation.
