Published in the Times Herald-Record on 11/15/2009 Middletown NY Brodt, Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Greenville Twp., NY Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Brodt of Greenville Township, NY, passed away Friday, November 13, 2009, at her home with her family by her side. She was 75. Betty was born November 28, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Donald and Millicent Everhart Case. She was a long term resident of Port Jervis and Greenville, NY. She worked as Bookkeeper for Cohen & Peavey CPA Firm in Port Jervis for over 20 years. She also worked as the Bookkeeper for the Port Jervis/Deerpark Humane Society for over 10 years. Betty was the Treasurer for the Greenville Sports Club and on the Board of Directors for the Greenville Sesquicentennial Committee where she served as the Treasurer. Betty also enjoyed working as a Bus Monitor for over 17 years at the Minisink Valley School District where she assisted many special needs students. Betty lived a very active and fulfilling life in and around the Port Jervis area, not only as a loving wife to Claude but also a loving mother to her three children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and her great-granddaughter. Her love of animals was evident as she and Claude raised cows and managed their Greenville farm for over 25 years. This deep love of animals also inspired her to give over 10 years of dedicated part-time service to the Humane Society in Huguenot, NY. Another life love of Betty was dirt track racing, and she could be seen in the 1st turn every Saturday night at Orange County Fair Speedway cheering for her favorite drivers. Betty and Claude's passion for racing grew from being a spectator to a car owner/sponser which kept them active in racing for a number of years. Betty and Claude's passion for classic cars has been a large part of their lives in recent years and they owned a 1957 Chevy Belair which has one numerous Top of Class trophies and awards. Betty was instrumental in creating and co-chairing the Greenville Sesquicentennial Committee Classice Car Show annually. Surviving are her loving husband of 32 years, Claude Brodt, at home; one son, Robert Palmer and his wife, Marion of Matthews, NC; two daughters, Mindy Wessel and her husband, Ron of W. Milford, NJ and Linda Palmer of Franklin, NJ; five grandchildren: Katy Dimanto, Adam Palmer, Sara Palmer, Aaron and Hannah Bush; one great-granddaughter, Adriana Dimanto; also two loving grand-dogs, Bailey and Biccardi. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Case. Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 East Main St., Port Jervis on Monday, November 16, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 16, at 9 p.m. at the funeral home, with The Rev. Donald Coy officiating. Cremation will be at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA. A private family burial will be held at the family's convenience.
