This obituary appeared in the Brattleboro (VT) Reformer August 17, 2001 ELIZABETH MOORE KEENE, NH - Elizabeth A. (Lake) Moore, 86, of 298 Main St., died Saturday morning in Harborside Healthcare-Westwood in Keene. She was born in Poultney, VT, May 18, 1915, the daughter of Melvin D. and Althea (Snow) Greene. She worked for 25 years as a lens inspector with American Optical Corp. of Brattleboro,VT. Later, she and her husband owned and operated Hillside Motel and Near Lake Inn of Spofford. She almost single-handedly converted the rooms of both places into year-round apartments. She retired in 1973 and moved to W Palm Beach, FL, where some of her happiest years were sent (spent) being able to stay at home, working around the house. For the past two years, Mrs Moore has made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Douglas Gray of Hinsdale. She loved gardeding and growing flowers, especially roses. She like to crochet, make blankets, placemats and slippers for everyone in the family. Her husband Earl C. Moore, died in 1989. Two sons, Carroll R. Lake and William M. Lake also predeceased her. A graveside service will be held in W Brattleboro Cemetery., Brattleboro, VT at a later date. There are no calling hours. Foley Funeral Home , 47 Court ST., Keene, is in charge of arrangements.
