Carter (Betty) of Pine Bush, a bus monitor for First Student Bus Company, Pine Bush, and a lifetime resident of the area, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla. She was 53. The daughter of Maurice and Catherine Clouse Lake, she was born July 21, 1947, in Middletown. She was a longtime member of the Pine Bush Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Pine Bush; member of Ontario Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary, Middletown; and the Church of the Infant Saviour, Pine Bush. A family statement read, "Betty was a loving and caring person who was committed to family, friends and community. She will always be in our hearts." Survivors include one daughter, Jamie Spadafora of Pine Bush; one son, Mike Santos of Williamston, S.C; two brothers, Gary Lake of Circleville and Keith Lake of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the funeral home. The Rev. Alfred Gallant will officiate. Burial will be in New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush.
