5 January 1971 Tonawanda News North Tonawanda, NY Fatally Stricken Elmer Lake, 69, of 100 Morgan St., Tonawanda, was pronounced dead on arrival at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Neighbors call firemen when they spotted Mr. Lake lying on the kitchen floor. Firemen forced a door to gain entry and administered oxygen in an unsuccessful attempt to revive him. 6 January 1971 Tonawanda News North Tonawanda, NY LAKE - Elmer D. Lake, 69, of 100 Morgan St., Tonawanda, unexpectedly, Tuesday (Jan. 5, 1971) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Born in the Town of Pembroke, he had been a resident of Tonawanda the past 55 years. An Army veteran of World War II he had been employed at E. I. Dupont de Nemours & Co. for more than 32 years, retiring 4 years ago. He is survived by a step-daughter, Mrs. Harry (Beverly) Kreitmayer and a step-son LaVant Smith, both of the Town of Tonawanda; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Georgia of Olean and Mrs. Betty Johnson of Nunda. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Morgan and Williams Sts., Tonawanda where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Karl H. A. Rest. Burial will be in Evergreen Hills Cemetery, Corfu, N. Y.
