Seymour Tribune; Seymour IN; 2001-4-25 Elsie Monroe Elsie Monroe, 88, of Seymour, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in Seymour. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour. She worked at Arvins, Canfield and retired from Excello Shirt Factory. Born Dec. 30, 1912, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Newton and Goldie Jackson Lake. On Dec. 28, 1935, in Bedford, she married Leo Monroe and he died Aug. 9, 1987. Survivors include a son, Michael L. Monroe of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Monroe of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a granddaughter, Danielle Monroe of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Lucille Lake of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Opal Lake, Lloyd Lake and Loran Lake; and a sister, Ethel Lake. The Rev. D.G. Morris and the Rev. Luz M. Maiuri will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Thursday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel, in Seymour. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and after noon until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
