Santa Cruz Sentinel (California) dated October 18, 2001 Elton A. 'Jack' Lake Services were Saturday for Elton A. "Jack" Lake, who died Thursday in Capitola. He was 84. Mr. Lake was born in Timpson, Texas, and lived in Santa Cruz County since 1960. He worked as a construction superintendent for more than 28 years. Mr. Lake never met a stranger he didn't like, he always respected women and was a good neighbor who told a compelling story, family members say. He volunteered at Dominican Hospital. He is survived by brothers Lovis C. Lake of Sacramento and Charles B. Lake of San Bernardino; sister Betty J. Andersen of Wisconsin; stepson Kenneth Lake of Riverside; step-daughters Barbara Ivey of Riverside and Joanne Norville of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. His wife, Mary L. Lake, died in 1997. His mother, Ollie J. Cullinane, his father, Apton C. Lake, and his stepson, Jacob Mader, also died before him. Mr. Lake was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery.
