The Hawk Eye Burlington, Iowa Sunday, January 15, 2006 Esther Knoedler Esther Knoedler, 94, of rural Blandinsville, Ill., died at 12:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at Elms Nursing Home in Macomb, Ill. Born June 19, 1911, in LaHarpe, she was the daughter of Horace and Mary Lake Lovitt. On Oct. 3, 1937, she married Ray Knoedler in LaHarpe. He died on Sept. 21, 1986. Mrs. Knoedler was a teacher at schools in Ferris, Ill., and Rock Creek, Ill. She was a graduate of LaHarpe High School and Western Illinois State Teachers College in Macomb. She attended the former Rock Creek Church and was a member of the Friendship Methodist Church in rural Blandinsville. Survivors include one grandson, Ronnie Knoedler of St. Louis; and one nephew, Eugene Thorell of Ferris, Ill. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. The family will meet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Methodist Church in Blandinsville prior to the funeral. The funeral for Mrs. Knoedler will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Methodist Church, with the Rev. Donald Long officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the National Federation of the Blind.
