LAKE, Esther S (HEINE) A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, in Donelson Sewell & Mathews Mortuary for Esther S. Lake, who died Jan. 7 at age 81. Esther S. Heine was born Dec. 17, 1926, in Minot, S.D., and moved to Cornelius in 1928. She graduated from Hillsboro Union High School. A homemaker, she and her husband owned George Lake Plumbing, where she was the office manager. Later, they owned George Lake Builders. In 1945, she married George R. Lake; he died in 2005. Survivors include her daughters, Georgia Smith and Kay Rosling; son, Randy; sister Irene Meyer; and three grandchildren. Lake, 81, Hillsboro, died Jan. 7, 2008, at an adult foster care home in Vancouver, WA. A service has been held. Mrs. Lake was born Dec. 17, 1926, in Minot, S.D., a daughter of John and Amelia Heine. Her family moved to Cornelius when she was 2. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1945 and married George R. Lake Nov. 25, 1945, in Vancouver, Wash. She was a homemaker and office manager for the family business, Lakes Plumbing, in Beaverton. They worked together until the business was sold in 1959. They moved to a 284 acre ranch near Tumalo. A year later they moved to a 63 acre farm in Lebanon, and them in 1962 they moved back to Hillsboro to start a home building business. They retired in 1982. Mrs. Lake enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and camping. The beach was one of her favorite places, and she liked to go clamming. In 2006, she moved to Vancouver near her daughter. She was preceded in death by an infant son in 1948, a sister, Violet Gable, 1981, a grandson, Bret Lake, 2004, and her husband, George, in 2005. Survivors include a sister, Irene Meyer; a son, Randy Lake; daughters, Georgia Smith and Kay Rosling; and three grandchildren. Remembrances to Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
