Virginia Gazette; Williamsburg VA; 2012-2-25 EUNICE HANSSEN KIERNAN Married for 66 years Eunice Hanssen Kiernan, 85, of Williamsburg passed away on Feb. 23, 2012. The Kiernans were residents of Long Island, N.Y., prior to moving to Williamsburg. Eunice and her husband, William, were lifelong friends, meeting in early childhood on Long Island. Their wonderful friendship culminated in marriage in 1946. Perfect dance partners on the dance floor, Eunice and William were perfect marriage partners as well, who lived each day caring for one another, while building a loving family. Eunice made friends easily and was never heard to say an unkind word about anyone. She was very devoted to her family and cherished spending time with them. She was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, the Woman's Club of Williamsburg and the Williamsburg Women's Connection. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, William; her son, Paul Kiernan; her daughters, Leslie Kiernan and Noel MacMaster and her husband, Bob; her granddaughter, Ashley MacMaster; her sister, Thelma Benedict; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, Feb. 27, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd. A service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 4897 Longhill Rd., with interment at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
