Seaford Star Seaford DE Sep 2014 Gail Margaret Mauser -- Gail Margaret Mauser, 78, of Laurel, passed away on the night of Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. Born in East Orange, N.J. on Aug. 16, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Eugene W. Purdy and Stella M. Janish-Purdy. Gail grew up in Kingston, N.J., attended Princeton High School and Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn., married in May of 1958 and settled in Kendall Park, N.J. Gail worked at NJ Bell as a communications switchboard operator until pursuing a career within education, beginning as a pre-school teachers aide, and finally as a para-professional teacher in the South Brunswick, N.J. school system from which she retired. Gail was an active member of the Kingston Presbyterian Church and the Princeton Methodist Church; she belonged to the choir for several years at both churches. Gail also shared her passion of singing and playing piano by giving lessons to several students over the years, both in New Jersey and Delaware. She loved wildflowers planted in her gardens and the many birds who visited the feeders in her windows. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles A. Mauser; her daughters, Jean M. Hartwig of Kendall Park, Lynn M. Mauser of Laurel and Anne M. Weingart of Milltown, N.J. and son-in-law, Tyler Weingart; a sister, Jean Lindabury of Hendersonville, N.C. and a brother-in-law, James Ayers of Mills River, N.C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Purdy and a sister, Doris Ayers. A memorial service will be held at 5 on Friday evening, Sept. 26, at Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel, where a visitation will be held from 4 to 5. Pastor Stacey Johnson will officiate. Interment will be held privately.
