Hagerstown Morning Herald Jan. 2, 2003 Hagerstown, MD Garland Iden Lake, 74, of 1535 Edgewood Place, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Washington County Hospital. Born Feb. 16, 1928, in Clarke County, Va., he was the son of the late Charles Lewis and Ernestine Ardella Arnold Lake. He was employed by Mack Trucks Inc. for 28 years, retiring in 1990. He was previously employed part-time by Ames Department Store. He was a Protestant. He was a member of Funkstown Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda F. White Lake; three daughters, Janet L. Weir of Martinsburg, W.Va., Vickie L. Ashworth of Belews Creek, N.C., and Mary L. Lake-Seward of Hagerstown; two sons, Harold L. Lake of Hagerstown and James L. Lake of Charleston, W.Va.; three sisters, Velma Brown of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Shirley Brunner of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Betty Burson of Port St. Luice, Fla.; a grandson, Jamie L. Lake, Jr. of Hagerstown, whom he raised; three additional grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Willingham, and two brothers, Boyd Lake and Warren Lake. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Charles Newcomer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
