The Record-Courier; Gardnerville NV; 2004-2-13 George Elwood Lake passed away on Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 3, 1927 in St. George, Utah to Amond and Hazel Lake. George had been a resident of Walker, Calif. for more than 50 years. He worked for Mono County Road Department for 38 years retiring in 1989. George was an avid fisherman, hunter and trap shooter. He maintained lifetime memberships in the North American Hunting Club and the Mason Valley Trap Club. George is survived by his wife, Louise of Walker; son, Leonard of Yerington; grandson, Jason of Fulda, Germany; granddaughter, Crystal Gibbons of Yerington; and three great-grandchildren, Kindra, Morgan and Jasmine. He also leaves behind three brothers, Wilford of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; Merlin of Fieldbrook, Calif.; Darryl of Florrissant, Colo.; and two sisters, Larrita Hutchinson of Nampa, Idaho and Leora Ricks of Bakersfield, Calif. A memorial service will be at the Walker Community Center, in Walker Saturday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in his name. Captiol City Cremation and Burial Society in Carson City was entrusted with arrangements.
