DIED:  George S. (Joe) Lakie, 91, a teacher and principal for over 40
years; of cancer, in Lethbridge.  Born in Brandon, he began his career
at Fleetwood Bawden School in Lethbridge and retired as its principal
in 1974.  He was president of the Alberta Teachers' Association, and
served 11 years on Lethbridge City council.  He spent 12 years on the
Planning and Appeals Board and was chairman of the City Health Board
and the Police commission.

He was inducted into the Lethbridge Sports hall of Fame.
