Kane County Chronicle Geneva IL 18 Mar 2014 Gerald N. "Jerry" Lake Born: April 21, 1930 Died: March 16, 2014 GENEVA – Gerald "Jerry" N. Lake, 83, of Batavia, and a former longtime resident of Geneva, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Delnor Hospital. He was born April 21, 1930, in Streator, the son of Clayton and Lucille (nee Nelson) Lake. He was united in marriage to Joan Wilcox on Aug. 7, 1948, in Geneva. Jerry grew-up in Geneva and graduated from Geneva High School. As a young man, he was a talented athlete who had set many records in high school track and field. Jerry continued his love for sports participating as a youth hockey referee or cheering on his favorite professional teams, the Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Blackhawks. Jerry was an entrepreneur and hard worker. He owned and operated Jerry Lake Painting and Decorating for many years. In his later career, he worked as a sales representative for Glidden Paints. Jerry was artistically talented. He painted hundreds of watercolor pictures and created many pieces of pottery as a hobby. When Jerry did find time to relax, he could be found at his lake cottage in Neshkoro, Wis., fishing and spending valuable time with his loving family. He also enjoyed his annual fishing trip to Canada with his friends. He is survived by his wife Joan of Batavia; five children, Linda (Lee) Myers of Florida, Steven (Tammy) Lake of Arizona, Laura (Kurt Albertine) Lake of Utah, Kenton (Sheila) Lake of Geneva, and Kathryn (John) Nasti of Batavia, a son-in-law Robert Livingston, of Batavia; 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Joan Livingston. Visitation will be held 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., following the visitation. A private family interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
